Phill Brear was appointed as Head of Gambling Regulation for Gibraltar in October 2007 following two years as Director of Operations with the British Gambling Commission. His involvement in gambling regulation arose in the last years of his police service as Deputy Chief Constable of West Yorkshire Police when he acted as the police advisor to the former Gaming Board of Great Britain.
Having played a leading part in the roll out of the UK Gambling Act and the establishment of the Gambling Commission, and having gained experience across the breadth of the British gambling industry, the switch to Gibraltar, ‘home to the world’s leading online gambling operators’ has brought a new set of challenges, as Gibraltar adopts its own new Gambling Act and the codes and guidance that flow from it. Whilst the contrast of regulating the many thousands of operators in the UK compares starkly with the 20 licence holders in Gibraltar, the most noticeable difference is the immediate proximity and access ‘the Rock’ provides to the management, staff and gambling facilities of its licence holders.
Despite the number of licence holders in Gibraltar being constrained by Government policy, the industry and its support services continue to expand both their offer and the essential infrastructure. This ensures that the widest range of services are accessible to an expanding range of customers, as the wave of legal challenge and change spreads across Europe and elsewhere in the world.
Phill holds a first class Management degree from Manchester University, a diploma in Criminology from Cambridge University and the Queen’s Police Medal for distinguished service.

Jon received a Dphil in Visual and Computational Neuroscience from Oxford University and later worked there as a post doctorial researcher – his research looked at the ways the brain processes visual information and how people make decisions based on that information.
In 1999 he left academia to co-found Bunnyfoot – initially as a web usability consultancy, but with a view to developing it into what it has now become – a behavioral research consultancy that uses the principles of psychological knowledge and research to empower commercial organizations to communicate more effectively with their customers (regardless of the communication channel). A key factor in this development has been the adoption and innovation in the use of remote eyetracking technology, which unlike in his academic days, frees the test participant to behave naturally without feeling that they are a lab rat.
Jon has recently headed up projects for Microsoft, Dyson, Virgin holidays, The Times, MSN, BOC and O2 and is working in partnership with BetFair to deliver cutting edge insights into the behaviour of online and offline gamers.

Andrew McIver, aged 44, formerly Group Finance Director, took over as Group Chief Executive in October 2006. Andrew qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Arthur Andersen. Following two years in the Corporate Finance department at Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein, he held senior positions at Signet Group Plc, Ladbroke Group Plc and British Telecom’s Internet division. He was then Director of Finance with House of Fraser Plc for four years, before joining Sportingbet in December 2001. In October 2006, after four and half years in this role, Andrew stepped into the shoes of Nigel Payne to become Group Chief Executive for the Sportingbet Group. Nigel has since become an Non-Executive Director of the company.
Andrew took on this role during a challenging period for both Sportingbet and the industry as a whole. Since the passing of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006 by US congress on 29 September 2006, Sportingbet has closed its various US facing businesses, concentrated customer services into one location, moved licensable activities from the UK to the Channel Islands and merged two poker platforms into a single Boss platform.
The business is now in a robust shape to focus on its future of being a mass market customer champion of online retail gaming.

Jonas Ödman is Managing Director of Gnuf, an online gaming site that was launched in January 2007. Ödman has played live poker for more than twenty years, and online since 2000. He has worked in the Internet industry since 1998, and in the online gaming industry since 2004.
One of the earliest demands from the people behind Gnuf was to go against the flow and focus on user based content. Gnuf was not just going to be another gaming site, but also a place to meet on a more personal level.
The idea of having an active online social life may have been dismissed as plain nonsense ten years ago, but the rules of interaction hun changed. Today, being online is being social. Millions of people around the world interact through forums, communities and blogs everyday.
Surprisingly, there are still user-driven Internet based industries who are yet to discover this movement, and continue to run their sites with very limited possibilities for their users to interact with each other. The online gaming industry is one of them, but Gnuf is about to change that.
